Loose steering column....should I worry?
I have a Westfield with an Allegro steering column. If I tug in and out on the steering wheel the column moves in and out by a couple of millimetres.
If I examine the joint that the column spline fits into it's very tight but I can see the spline moving in the joint when I push and pull on the
steering wheel. Should I be concerned? Has the the spline on the end of the column got a 'gulley' in it (couldn't think of a better
word!) which will stop it pulling out completely?

Sounds like the pinch bolt may be loose, as already suggested tighten it up before the splines get damaged

Should take the bolt out and replace it with a set screw, (fully threaded bolt) it is very common for the bolt supplied with these to run out of
thread and become coil bound and not clamp properly.
