zzr 1100 c issues

So iv bought a new odyssey battery and fitted it but the engine will not start without a boost of around 17v it turns over fine but wont fire into life, once started it ticks over fine. AAnyone ever had this or know what it could be?

Also wont rev above 8k, thats with jets drilled to 180 (1.8mm).

Thanks for any help.

I've got the latter issue of it not revving past 7ish k rpm. I've got 2mm main jets. I'm sure it's got something todo with the two vacuum hoses on the top of the carbs. I'm going to blank them off and run it tomorrow see what it does. Failing that... I'm Guna book a rolling road session to set up properly

Oh, there is a wire from the CDI that needs 12v when cranking to advance the spark for easy starting. It won't start without it. But never tried 17v! I'm sure that would start a bowing 747

Done abit of googling an looks like the carbs need the ram air system. A dyna jet kit would more than Likely fix the problem, but I'm doing this first.

Do you have any more information on the wire for the cdi ? Diagram? Wire colours?

Im going to see how it revs when its being driven, my itg sausage filter is right in my bonnet scoop so should get plenty of air.

My car runs fine on tick over and up to 7/8k rpm with the itg filter. It even ran with no air box at all when I first started it.
