Clutch not working - cbr900
I've just fitted a new clutch and uprated springs to my cbr900
after getting it all back together, it turns out i cant push the clutch pedal
at first i thought it was just the new springs being mega heavy, so i changed them back to the old ones and still have the same problem?!
so im assuming its something ive done/not done correctly. can anyone give me an idea what it could be?
im off to take it all back out, again, and see if i can spot anything

could my new clutch springs be too chunky?
in a vice they squash down to 25mm, the standard springs squash to 23mm, when pressing the clutch it feels like the springs just arent able to squash
:S
but ive tried the standard springs in and its made no difference :S
the little clutch arm on the cover seems to be 15-20degrees further round than it usual is

Sounds like youve nt hooked the lever onto the mushroom properly?
Either that or not put the plates in in the right order

took a while of fannying about to the get the lever on, but im fairly sure it is on properly
as for the plates, iv got the judder ring, then friction plate (with the bigger diameter inside) then steel/friction from then on, then after the last
friction plate, the alloy 'hub' sits on with the springs bolted into the five holes
anything i have missed?
is there an easy way to get the lever on the mushroom rather than just pushing it on and hoping it flicks round onto it? certainly feels like the
shaft has gone into the groove

Another vote for the clutch lever lever is not hooked around the mushroom properly. I know last time I did mine I struggled with it for some reason
and clutch was SOLID! Have another look there.

ill have a play with that tomorrow, pissed off with it enough for today
I had the cover on and off about 50 times
i would have thought if it wasnt located right then the lever would be further away than it should be? as it sits, the lever is closer to the cable
bracket :S
another thing, the pedal does go down, its very stiff and doesnt go full travel

yes after a lot of fannying about
im still not sure what the problem was....
the only thing i noticed was the new clutch plates stuck out further, as though the stack was thicker, but measuring them against the old, there was
barely 0.5mm difference in the total stack of plates. yet when they were fitted they would out maybe 2mm further
I can only assume the back plates weren't sat right over the judder spring or something?
eventually i got it working with the old clutch plates and the new stiffer springs
i would prefer the whole new clutch in, but the slipping has stopped with it as it is so that will do
