like the slimey worm he is - he wriggles his way out of yet more shit. (despite the pocket change loss to his bank balance)

The case was going nowhere and starting to get embarassing for the prosecutors.
It's a strange law that let's you buy your way out of a case but they opended the door for him...

I don't get it - apparently the case against him was due to fail so why shell out £60m to make it go away when it would have gone away anyway?

If he lists it as legal expenses, then yes I suppose.

Doubt he pays much tax anyway

It's the local law. if the prosecution is willing you can make a charitable donation or gift to the state and have the slate wiped clean - the presumption of innocence remains. There's a good article on pitpass about it.

He's the ultimate deal maker! You may not like him but you gotta admire the way he's gone from 2nd hand car dealer through to multi-billionaire! According to Ken Tyrrell he's sold F1 four times now and he didn't even own it in the first place!

Shame he didn't get convicted as F1 needs a serious shake-up! Although with no successor in place I feared a little for the future of it all!

cheers,
James

If you're interested in the politics and the business side of F1 then I can thoroughly recommend the highly respected journalist Joe Saward's blog:

He's been to every race since the 80's and knows his stuff!

Cheers,
James

At his time in life surely time is more precious than money. I would have done the same thing if I was in his shoes.

More slippery than a slippery thing covered in oil on a slipper surface!!

What makes me laugh is the fact that he says the original payment was made because someone tried to blackmail him about tax affairs. If he was innocent of that, why didn't he say "go for it" to the would-be blackmailer. So there must have been something in it for him to pay in the first place??

As already said, if you have money..........
