what good magazines are there that covers old pickup's
one could be my new protect don't tell the wife

Depends on what pick up it is, and you're planning to do to it.
If it's a 4x4 that you're planning to off road, then Petersen's Off reader and four wheel drive, or Four Wheeler.
If it's a 2wd that you're going to hot rod, then I'd just go for the hot rod magazines, mainly because the specialised pick up only magazines are a bit poor on technical detail, and information.

I always find www.americanautomags.com useful for finding those niche yank mags and books.
