After a part...and name not known!

I want to add ventalition to the cockpit from within the top air vent which leads to the engine. simplest way I can think of is a half cup / ball with one half of that half with a big hole that can be spun round so the open half faces forward so is scooping air into the cockpit, turn it the other way and air isnt scooped in and will just flow to the engine like normal.

this doesn't have to be a car part, does anyone know of a part that will do this job?

Good shout Ken, I've re-read the OP and my part doesn't remotely fit the description!

I'm having these on the side windows, The issue with helicopter vents is they don't actually open that much hence the need for something at the top of the cockpit.

Try Googling "dorade vent". They are used on boats and usually stick out a lot, but I'm sure low profile ones are available too.
