small crank sensor
Probably a simple question,
Im looking for a small discrete crank sensor, one that hopefully I can hide from view, so, smaller the better, any suggestions??
Something different, Very different..............

A crank sensor is a Hall effect sensor + magnet. You can buy the sensors:
similar to eBay item number:291058857023 + a small but powerful magnet (from a 1/4" hex driver extension)

A bit of a faf I grant you but it is possible to make one very small. Just need some potting compound.

Some use hall effect sensors (three wire) but most are variable reluctance sensors (two wire). There is another part to them as well, the pole piece,
which determines the minimum usable tooth size on the trigger wheel.
Something from a modern motorcycle might be useable e.g. yamaha r6 pick up (if it is going to be mounted externally rather

I have had a check, and confirmed what I need is a 2 wire VR sensor,

Still looking, but, something crossed my mind this morning, ---- would a 2 wire anti lock brake sensor work, ???
