Fury Standard Bodywork

As the title really,

I purchased my Fury kit back in 2012 but didnt get the bodywork at the time as I had nowhere to store it, as it turns out that was a big mistake. I ordered the Standard bodywork last year from Steve but several months later he told me the mold had been damaged for the standard bodywork and so it would have to be remade. Contacting him again in Novemeber he told me that it was progressing well and I should have it by Christmas however having contacted him again on Saturday he now tells me they havent done anything and will not progress any further until he gives them more money and he can no longer afford to do that.

I dont suppose anyone on here has a Fury Standard bodywork with doors and a Le Mans bonnet????

I'm a bit confused here, so he can no longer supply any bodywork for his own kits? Are they going under then?

He can supply the spyder bodywork just not the standard body with the doors. He says the standard mold was damaged when they made the last one and he can not afford to have a new mold made. It does sound like he is struggling as nobody is ordering kits, mind you I haven't seen him at a y of the shows for a few years so it's not really getting advertised plus the prices for his kits are quite expensive compared to others I have noticed.

Ok, a further update on this...not looking good.

Basically after not getting the standard bodywork which I wanted I ordered the Spyder body in January. Now three months later I still haven't got the bodywork and don't really see any prospect of getting it as Steve at Fury didn't sound too optomistic!

I don't suppose anyone out there has a spare set of Fury bodywork available that I could use to have a body made?

After getting this news today and after months (almost a year) of waiting for my bodywork I have been looking at options and did read about the Cayana body. Looks nice and see that it may be adaptable to have a screen fitted too.

Need to read a bit more on it but if anyone has any details on the Cayana I would appreciate it. Hope the body is at Stoneleigh this year so I can view it.

I'm not too sure he's still in business but I bought my body directly from the supplier. He may be the one that Steve refers to anyway but may be worth giving them a bell?

Company was Fibreglass Techniques and his name was Graham I think? Was a lovely chap but even back then (7 years ago?) the moulds were damaged and there was talk of them being redone.....

Best of luck though, not sure bodywork comes up that often on EBay now either!

Thats where my bodywork came from; Ordered through BGH but colected in person. They'd been doing it for KitCarWorkshop previously as well. When Steve took over he changed the GRP supplier, partly to be more local but also because the Fibreglass Techniques bodywork isn't very well impregnated as several discovered when they pranged it (me included). pants has photos of mine and there some on Tim Hovered's blogg...

He is still working, just need to keep on with the phone if you want to get through as it tends to be Steve on his own these days. I don't know anything about the Spyder bodywork but I do know there was damage to the moulds on the standard body.

Hmm - not good for you.

While Cyana, Raw Pheonix, Stylus, Arion and Autotune Gemini could probably be made to fit, In your shoes I'd have a look at a Microplas Mistral shell from Tribute Automotive. He quoted £795 on madaboutkitcars some time ago.

I'm not sure, if I owned the moulds, I'd go much on someone trying to get a knock off body from my property presumable without paying me anything. This might be why Steve can't afford to get the moulds re-done....

So I rang Fury Sportscars and spoke to Steve.


He is having issues with the place that has the moulds at the moment, they have a loads of Railway work and can't be bothered with Steve's stuff anymore. He is in conversation with two other suppliers with a view to shifting the moulds to another firm. He expects to be in a position to make new Spyder bodies within a month.

If you have any questions please ring him.

PS, The guy at Fibreglass Techniques who was doing bodyshells out the backdoor has since died and they no longer have the moulds.

It's not like I haven't tried to get the bodywork through Steve, this saga has been going on for almost a year now.

I tried getting the standard body and was told I would have to wait for a new mould to be made and after waiting 9 months then told it wouldn't happen so I then ordered the Spyder body in January, be ready in 5 weeks and now 10 weeks down the road still nothing.

At the moment I have a running chassis and no bodywork and not a good prospect of getting one any time soon...

I rang him yesterday.

Thanks for that info Jeff. Thats more than I got out of Steve yesterday, he sounded completely hacked off and ready to pack it all in which is why I was worried that I would be left without any bodywork. He didn't tell me he was looking at getting the bodies made elsewhere.

I understand that he is struggling and why I have been patient about this but as I said this has been going on for almost a year now (well over as I originally tried to order in March last year).

There have been a number of upheavals recently but I'm sure the company will survive. Steve is aware he needs to sort out the body situation and is working on it. As you can imagine when there is only two people working it is sometimes difficult to focus on long term goals rather than the work in front of you.

I certainly hope so and would hate to see the company fold as the Fury is a fantastic car and Steve has been involved with it for so long.

If I lived a bit closer I would offer to help him out but I live too far away. Am thinking of offering tio update his website for him though to try and attract more business. He could also do with getting to a few shows like Stoneleigh but again as the company is so small and he is concentrating on other things he doesnt get the time or can afford to do the shows, catch 22 really.

I went through the economics of attending shows with Steve once, as you do. I worked it out that he would need to sell two complete kits to make money on attending Stoneleigh.

I think the heyday for this type of kit (the Fury is a niche product in a 7 world which itself is a niche product) is sadly gone. Selling 5-10 kits a year is about it these days so the money in the business is work on cars like mine or insurance repairs. There is a loose grouping now of Fury Sportscars, GKD and Aeon Cars which may allow them all to work together (Aeon will make the chassis for GKD as a for instance) and maybe they will be able to have stands at shows.

Fury Sportscars did do Total Kit Car live for the last two years (Blyton and Brands) and have had cars circulating at these events.

I think that is about the only way the smaller companies will be able to afford doing these shows now, as you say the economics of doing a show with the number of units sold just inst viable any more. Probably the reason more and more of these shows are dying off too.

If I had the money and time I would re-body mine,.... I do like the look of the Fury esp with the Le Mans bonnet, but the Cyana looks awesome,... perhaps there is scope for more collaboration in the industry,.. ?
