Presumably you want something mappable rather than a standard 5AS paired setup?

If you want mappable injection and ignition then unless you are very lucky with a second hand buy "cheap" is not really an option. I looked into this for my engine and even the prebuilt megasquirt is around the £500 mark. For K series then I would personally go for Emerald (k3 is OK, k6 is the new one) as you can use it with the OEM plug and loom as far as I know and they have loads of K series maps. An alternative is Canems which is about the most cost effective and comes with a flying lead loom. Finally there is the omex 600 again, similar to emerald but you will need thier loom, these come up a bit more often on ebay. But as I have said £500 should be your budget as a minimum for a second hand named system and don't forget the cost of setting it up.

emerald ecu k3 k6 ,mbe, dta lotus elise exige kit car

Canems recently had an offer where you got the hardware for the full ECU for the same price as the ignition only ECU. It was about £300 IIRC and only needs a software upgrade for about £50 I think. I got one Might be worth calling him.

I picked up a pre-built megasquirt 2 with a 8 foot wiring loom for £300 off Gumtree so look for second hand megasquirts for a cheap option
