Aquasump

Hi guys were is the best place to mount a aquasump system
I mean the canister part
Can you mount it any were ? Or dose it have to be low

Not sure where you'd put a aquasump system, a boat or submarine possibly

I've fitted two Accusumps before one horizontally at the side of the engine and the other transverse on the bulk head. Both were at cylinder head height. It shouldn't matter to much where as they work under pressure.

Interesting question.i mounted mine higher than the take off, and I have never been convinced it fills properly. I am just changing the sump baffle, and I plan to prime it low down first, before moving it back into place. I figure there will always be some oil left in the pipework, so it shouldn't fill with air again.... Interested to hear other views on this.

60psi will push oil up a considerable distance, it's knocking on for 140 feet for head of water pressure.

My thoughts aswell. Mine is probably mounted in line with cams and the take off is well below that.

They have a pressure gage on them that shows what they are seeing.

The main thing to consider is to over fill slightly as they take ok out of the system at high revs, exactly when you don't need any shortage.





Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Whilst I appreciate they are under pressure, if there is air on the oil side of the piston, then the oil will be compressing that air - it will be taking up some volume that cannot be replaced with oil. Someone cleverer than I could work out the volume of the compressed air assuming worst case and no oil in the accusump.

I run mine up to full pressure, lock off then fill the engine to the correct level.

I know it's doing its job as the canister gets hot when tracking the car.
