Sylve RIOT track car opinions?

A mate's thinking of buying this as a track car - SYLVA RIOT ZZR1400 TRACK CAR / HILL-CLIMB /SPRINT

I seem to think it's been discussed on here before but can't remember the general consensus.

Why would it need a Power Commander to pass emissions on a std ZZR lump / ECU??

I think I remember reading somewhere that bike engine are very fussy about the airbox design as these are designed to work using a ram air intake arrangement, obviously if you remove this then the fueling may well be up the shoot so the power commander helps bring this back in line. Change of exhaust may also be a factor.

It would need to be a very windy MOT station for the Ram air to work sitting still.

there should be an air sensor in the loom which fits into air box or foam backplate (which i cant see in photos) this is needed to achieve correct mix.
its advised to run a power commander to get the best power curve out of this engine, i use a Pipercross foam filter and Power commander with very good results!
Thats a good priced considering nearly half of that would be cost to purchase engine!

It is nothing to do with ram air. When you modify any inlet or exhaust of an oem setup you are changing the way it breathes. A Power Commander enables the map to be modified to bring it back in line with what is needed to pass an emissions test. Remember that emissions are tested stationary and at low or tickover revs, so no ram air influence.

Very light Nick.there was one at Blyton the other week and it went well with an r1 motor. It'll be lively but great fun and rapid

Did your friend buy it?

I talked to the seller on the phone, but I did not look at it because the car has no paperwork at all, so IVA might be out of reach.

The plate mounting the reverse motor is twisted and attempts have been made to strengthen it, without success.

The radiator is rear mounted and the seller admitted that it overheats rapidly. I would front mount the rad.

Once sorted, it will be blisteringly quick.

No he didn't buy it, I pretty much talked him out of it. It will make a good car, and I could've sorted it, but it just wasn't right for him as he has zero mechanical skills.
