What's the latest on full body for seven style car?
I have a f27 clubman and thinking long term it could be fun to do. I appreciate that some modification will be likely but wondering what good starting
points would be to put a more aerodynamically effective body on. I like lemans prototype style (apreciate that it's a completely different
engine layout but you get my thinking)
I have also pondered the idea of fabricating in aluminium a very slab sided, wedge profiled body. I have made some good stuff in the past with
aluminium, counter sunk rivets and bondo, but would likely learn to tig weld. Am I crazy even considering this?
Any experience on either of the above would be great to hear!
Look forward to hearing.

It depends on what you like doing and what will get you out in the garage.
For me its making and fitting things to help me lap quicker.
I cant weld and I certainly cant fabricate ali body panels.
Some people do naff all and just drive them (me if I can help it) some people build cars from 0 upwards and then sell them on just to do the whole
thing again.
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Tiger do the Gta which is a fury/Phoenix style body for the Avon seven style car, there are also Healy bodies about that fit sevens as well (kit part
direct, think MK did one as well?), and mnr do a Le Mans style version (gm2) based on the Vortx. Also keep an eye out in the classifieds for a pulsar
body which was a seven style chassis with Le Mans bodywork, I think quantum had this kit for a while.

Hi Matt
I don't think I've ever seen anything "slab sided" that looked good, but the addition of even gentle compound curves
tranforms a "shoe box" into a pleasing shape. A curved surface is stronger too, or to put it another way, can be made
thinner and therefore lighter.
Have a go. You've little to lose and masses to gain. It really isn't that hard to learn the techniques, possibly time
consuming I'll grant you, but if your the sort of person to persevere then the rewards are there for the taking.

I know some of the details aren't massively practical, but i still really liked these concepts, although bear in mind they are just concepts!

Lotus 11 - the original (and best) streamlined 7.
Didn't GTS offer fibreglass 11 panels at one time?

Great - thanks everyone. I will have a ring around and get some dimensions! There are a few there that I could really like.
Cheers

Here is another from Wildmoor - says it can be made to fit any seven chassis - looks like it should do the job for you.
