J15 Project Planning

Hello,

I am on the look out for my next project - I am hoping to pick up a J15 either part built or on the road. My question is whether there are any places I should be looking / resources other than the usual ebay / pistonheads? I joined JPSC.org forum but it seems very quiet and takes an age for posts to be approved and appear? Are there any other Syvla or J15 forums etc that I am not aware of?

If anyone has a project or fully built car give me a shout.

Thanks.

Sylva Sportscars facebook page is new and fairly often updated.

Pistonheads Kit Car Forum is moderately busy (2-3 posts per day) as well but most of the posts there for wants/sales are usually on here.

Really, once you are on the forum posts should come straight up? Mine do.

Have you seen the thread about the new Sylva owners holding an open day at Mallory...

Actually new users posts have to be approved by an admin to stop spam. As I'm the only pseudo-admin that goes on the site semi-regularly it is normally down to me to approve the posts.

Also the OP needs to understand there are very few J15s in existence so finding one is difficult. You can always talk to Sylva Cars who will be happy to help you increase the number by one.

Thanks for your replies. I know there are few about. Ideally I want a ford based car rather then MGF but not ruling one out. Hence I was looking for a built car or part finished project. Happy to convinced of the MGF version though.

From posts on the facebook page it looks like the next version will have MGF uprights gear but not use the subframe (traditional double wishbones IIRC) so will be more like the original J15 rather than the vectis, you can therefore put any engine in that you like (within reason). The MEV Rocket 2 is a similar layout and will be using the corolla/MR2 190vvti engine as used in the Elise 111R. Also the new owner of the R1OT (basically a naked J15) is putting the 1.6 Ecoboost in his cars (not a cheap option but interesting none the less). Another favourite would be the Honda k20 to add to the list.

Yes, I do try and check most days, I think after a few approved posts new members then become not approval reqd. (?)
