Type 9 versus Mx5 5 speed gearbox

I have driven the ford type 9 back to back with the five speed Mx5.
I found a day/night diffrence in the gear change in favour of the Mx5.

P100 & Mx5

If the type 9 was in the P100 I'm not surprised

the mx5 5 speed is a no brainer - lighter, stronger and closer ratios and of course much cheaper for a decent one than a type 9

I have a type 9 on to a zetec black top. How easy would it be to change it to a mx5 one?
I used to have a few mx5s and still a member of the owners club. Got a gearbox in the shed never thought about swapping them😃

Mx5 - best one is - NB VERSION - 3.14, 1.89, 1.33, 1.0, 0.81

Not far off a long first type 9 with a better 5th overdrive.

Same here, about to put an rx8 6 speed box behind my 1.7 puma engine in my anglia. Guy on turbo sports (freddy686868) sell a few different adaptors. Just working out if I can retain the cable clutch. Don't think he had done a duratec v6 though, worth dropping him a line though to see.
