Replacing old style "Domino" fuses

I have an old style fuse box in the garage which I want to replace the fuses (by domino style I mean the big bulky things with spots on to identify lighting/power etc with white red or blue spots) with circuit breakers, so I can isolate a circuit without having to pull a fuse. They are a blade type fitting which slide in & out of the front of the panel

What is the correct name/type for what I need to fit, there seem to be loads of different types - MCB, Wylex, Mini, Type B etc etc, I don't want to buy something that won't fit!

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

So are the important words Wylex & MCB for standard consumer units? I assume the type B curve is referring to the way the circuit breaker will define when it should break the current?

Sorry can't help you any further. I remember looking into this several years ago and this was the type I needed to replace the fuse wire type in my consumer unit. If you go to B&Q they have these and others with information on the package which may help.

this youtube vid may help.
though it suggests its not worth doing, (but as you want to isolate the circuit easily may be worth doing)

If you go into an electrical wholesalers and ask for plug-in mcbs to replace rewireable fuses, you'll get the right thing. B-type does indeed relate to how it trips.

It would be a better installation though if you had an rcd somewhere.

Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.
