English Axle Halfshaft Bearing Leak

Hi All,
I swapped out the half shaft bearing on my english axle with an proper SKF bearing (without the outer seal) as the old one was dead.

But the new one leaks oil onto the rear side of the brakes?

Ive tried re-fitting with sealant around the outer race but still leaks.

Direction wise its fitted the same as the other side, which is fine.

Any ideas?

And that seal goes against the inside face of the axle I assume?

Yep.. and the four bolt retaining plate presses it up against the inside face of the axle..

Took me a while to find the correct bearing with seal - been there done that.. oil everywhere..

The best part is when you fit the bearing - come to bolt it up - and forgot to put this on ...

So I spoke to the supplier of the bearing today. While he has never known one to fail or leak from new it appears everything I've done so far is correct. So is supplying me with another, great customer service!

There is always a first time for a dodgy part.

I'll get it swapped this week and hopefully all will be well for a bit of drag rwyb on this weekend.
