st 170 cambelt

does anybody know is the procedure different for a cambelt change on the st170 compared to the zetec
because of the vvt pulley cos when I tighten the cambelt it advances the vvt pulley do I need to lock the pulley if so how

Same as blacktop zetec. TDC, Bar in rear cam slots, tensioner slack, cam pulley bolts loosened quarter turn. Fit belt, tighten tensioner then tighten cam pulley central bolts with the rear bar removed and each cam held with a spanner/adjustable/whatever. Turn engine a couple of turns and recheck TDC and rear bar still align.

thanks for the info looks like I will have to buy a bigger torx socket to undo the vvt pulley didn't know you could turn it after after undoojng it because of the oil feed
