Lexus LS400

Bit of a long shot, but looking for a cheap LS400 for a turbo project. Got to be 1994 or older, if it runs and drives it's good enough. Someone may know of one about or brought one for the engine but not used it yet.

Will do, there's quite a few about but 1995 or newer, these older ones seem to be harder to find.

Thanks

Age not really a problem for me.
Engine and box will be going in the Pop I'm building.

Just out of interest, why does it have to be a pre 94 ?

Cheers

Rob

From 1995 onwards the connecting rods went on a bit of a diet and they don't seem to hold up to any appreciable amount of boost, 94 or older ones are beefier

Needs to be a driving car for me, I'm keeping it in the car and want to build something to have fun in

Mines a 95 and runs up to a bar of boost with no drama . 8 psi is 360 hp 390 lb ft .

Depends what your dragging around , my rod is 800 kg with fuel and 90 kg driver .

And 50kg of mutt occasionally .

At 8psi I can't remember it ever being short of power as the torque is just ridiculous all the time but I'm adding a button onto the gearknob for the extra 6 psi it's mapped to just in case .

You may not have seen the donor vehicle but did it have 3 piece lights or the post 95 two piece? (you can see pics on google)

There is a chance that they still put the good rods in some of the early 95 motors (or that the model change over was actually some time in 95)

Someone blew the rods out of one with weak rods at just 6 psi

Plan is to have it in the car for some fun, then ultimately drop it in a 4x4 built like the Scandinavian formula off road trucks

You will find a these for tiny money in the Republic of Ireland.
Cars over 3 litre cost €1,809 to tax per year so no one wants them.

Search on donedeal.ie or adverts.ie
And to sweeten the deal when you take them out of the country you get the Vehicle Registration Tax back less €100 admin.
So you get about a third back.

A really nice ls430 is up for a under €1000 nett on donedeal at the moment

Just bought a block with a few bits on as it was going to be a manual conversion and turbo I didn't need anything else . Date stamps in the old plug leads was 1995 . I don't have intercooling and at 8 psi we kept afr at 11.5 from 3000 up and it wouldn't knock no matter what we did with the advance . At 10-1 compression 400whp is going to be a struggle on pump fuel . Mines probably 300 at the wheels and it's not often I need to go above 3000rpm to get where I'm
Going.
