Engine and box with v5

Hi all, I picked up a number of parts plus a chassis, with the escort X flow 1600 and rocket box came a v5, but I'm going down the mx5 route. My question is, is the engine more desirable given that I have the v5? And what sort of price? Engine needs a good clean up and am unaware of its condition in terms of running.

Only worth more if the person buying needs or wants a v5.
Legally speaking if the cars already broken and not being used for a donor by the breakee, then it shouldnt be sold with the V5 as the v5 is a transfer of registered keeper of a car - not the parts that made up that car. However its been done before and there are far worse crimes!

Personally I'd surrender the V5 as a scrapped vehicle to avoid any come back on you.

Cross Flows seem to be quite desirable and do make reasonable money, so stand alone you should do OK, I doubt the V5 would make enough difference to risk being implicated in any wrong doing with regards registering a vehicle in the future.

V5 belongs to the chassis/donor not the engine. Makes no difference to the value of the engine....

But a copy of the v5 "may be proof of age" for Iva purposes ?

Thanks for the replies, I was thinking along the lines of "proof of age" As big wasa suggests

If you have no idea on condition I'd split it all up, clean it and sell as parts, or at least crack the head off, check the bores etc.
Complete units that don't run, or 1100/1300 with unknown condition tend to sit on eBay for ages and relist after relist.

Good clean 711m 1600 running units can go for £400-£500 or at least ones with a good photo of the bores and that turn by hand.

A very kind member on here just gave me a 1300 Xflow free of charge as my block was knackered.
