Bonding a rust repair panel.

I know this will be hard to believe but my Alfa has a rust hole!

At the rear of the front wing is a splash panel, which I thought I would remove to give the panels behind a spray with some ACF50. I've found a rust hole about 50mm x 15mm on the side of foot well panel, easy to see but hard to weld up with the wing in place (welded wings). From what I can see it is not a structural panel and the metal around it is sound.

My plan was to make a ali patch and bond it in place. The area is easily cleaned and I can insert some self tappers to secure it while it cures.

When the wing comes off next it can be welded, panels on old Alfas seem to be a serviceable item (triggers broom wise) it can be welded if need be, although the metal is thin to begin with.

Any thoughts and advise most welcome. It just struck me as an easy solution.

As an ex Lancia owner I know where you're coming from
Bit of tiger seal should sort out your temporary repair.
