Remote central locking
Just bought a little cheapy Hyundai Getz as a 2nd car, it has central locking but only by putting the key in the door & operating the lock. It
would be nice to convert it to remote central locking, but don't want to spend a fortune or lose 2 days of my life wiring everything in!
I can't find anything which just does a basic remote/transceiver & simply operates the door locks - I've found this

which looks as though it will do the job, but I really can't be bothered with getting into all the wiring to flash lights, open bootlock
separately etc etc.
Am I correct that if I buy one & just connect up the door lock/unlock function & ignore the other 15 miles of loom supplied it would do the
job or do I need some form of solenoid for the drivers door - from the ad it would appear not?
I guess it comes down to when you turn the key in the doorlock are you just operating an electrical switch or are you physically, mechanically opening
that door which then electrically opens the others? I'm not up to date on modern auto electrics (car is 2008) & I can't tell when I
operate the key whether it's physically moving mechanical bits or not, it doesn't feel as though it has much resistance, but can't
be sure........
Don't particularly want to have to strip the door card off more than once unless absolutely necessary, it rarely does them much good!

if you unlock the passenger door (with the key) does that also unlock the drivers door?
and yes, you should be able to just ignore the lights etc wiring.

Have fitted a few of those they work ok and just don't fit what you don't want

If I unlock the passenger door with the key, it only locks/unlocks that one door, doesn't operate the central locking - does that tell me

If you unlock the drivers door and all other doors unlock then you should be fine, you fit the actuator to the drivers door.
One thing to remember about not doing the indicators os that you wont know if it has worked or been pressed accidently. Something I noticed when I did
an old car of mine.
The hassle of finding indicators is nothing compared to running wires into the doors, that is often a right pig.
What car is it out of interest?
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

2008 Hyundau Getz 1.4 GSI, I think the GSI was a bit of a budget model as many didn't have air con, this one has all the "normal"
bits & pieces you'd expect nowadays, including central locking, just seems odd to find it on a key rather than a remote!
