Any carpet or laminate flooring fitters on here???

Afternoon all,

I'm after a bit of advice!

We're in the process of redecorating our living/dining room. The wife wants the floor (under the dining table) to be laminate, and in the living area carpet. The length of the joint between the two is almost 4m.

I'll be laying the laminate first, then putting the skirting on ready for the carpet next week.

Question is... I don't really fancy a silver or gold Z bar running the width of the living room, so how would you suggest the joint be done? The carpet fitters are happy to put a Z bar down, but like I say, I'd prefer something that matched the laminate as best I can.

Cheers,

Chris

Carpet shims

We have one in the same situation, from engineered wood floor to carpet.

Then there is no need for any edging.

Loggy,

You have genuinely impressed me there, I've been searching for 3 days to find a suitable solution! Out of interest, what did you search for?

Cheers for your help!

Chris

Picture 1 is what I've done between kitchen and living room. Admittedly it's the same laminate flooring both sides, but same as you silver or gold just wasn't going to work for my better half.

Was that for the door threshold Nick?

I'm hoping to run the laminate the full length from the front door to the patio doors with no break to add some length (waheey) to the hall way. But for the doors off the hall, I'll be using the door thresholds rather than the 'office' looking silver or gold strips.

Yes a threshold between the kitchen and living room - double doors so approx. 2m wide. Thinking further I've used the same between the living room laminate and tiles in our hallway. Single doorway, but works just as well.

From memory it was available in up to 4m lengths.
