Atlas axle LSD

Evening all,
Looking at LSD options for the rear of my F27.
I believe I have the Atlas type axle.
What is the best, most cost effective way to fit an LSD?
Are there any unsuspecting vehicles that have these as standard?
Cheers
Liam

The only car that had the atlas and an lsd was the capri 2.8i special which had a zf plate diff. There's a motorsport version (more plates, 30deg angles rather than the normal 45deg) and numerous other aftermarket diff's such as Quaife, 3J, Tranx etc.

None are cheap as the atlas axle is a good strong axle, plenty of option parts (diff's, cwp's, shafts, disc conversions etc ) and still popular in escort rally cars.

I don't have much experience with diff etc.
Would the following be a straight swap with my current open diff?

Yes it will swap over assuming your axle has up rated half shafts fitted (18t splines) otherwise you'll need a diff for the standard 16t splines.

You would have to set-up the cwp back lash (and bearing preload) with the bearing shims on the diff what ever diff you decide to fit.

Atlas seems to be the name of the moment!

Does this thread help at all (only if you have the standard Atlas with 16 splines)

Prices are around the middle towards end of the thread

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1
