Engine Number Position

My engine number is hidden behind my repositioned alternator.
For IVA should I restamp/etch it somewhere else on the engine?

I've got letter stamps but not think etching it would be best, any used a dremel tool, any recommendations?

does it matter for IVA?
and i guess how hard is it to move the alternator during the test if they really need to see it?

Take a pic of it for the IVA just to be safe. My BMW one is a pig to see but he didn't seem that bothered TBH.

I was thinking a photo, but actually that doesn't prove that it's the actual engine in the car at the time of IVA...

Like I say they really weren't that bothered at mine. If I'd thought of it before I would've taken a photo, better than nowt.

I took photos of mine but as it was going to be a CAT test it wasn't followed up. I guess its only if you want a pre cat test they follow it up
