Westfield SEIW - ZX9 Engined - CHEAP

Westfield SEIW ZX9 Bike engine (has a hole in the block) DOES NOT RUN

I have a spare bottom end, and other engine spares which will probably fix it but I am putting no more time into this.

I have 2 folders of receipts from its previous car engine life, photos, manuals et etc
It’s a Q plate – Q898 MEG – Costs me £110 a year to insure with Footman James

New bike conversion just carried out and was finished on Friday night, this engine failure has put me off the car and I am not fixing it.

All parts/labour from Scottish Kit Car Centre with receipts for £3k plus as they did the labour on fitting/making the loom and getting the engine running, making the prop mounts, engine cradle, gear linkage fitting,
engine set up, fit the wiring loom/head gasket etc

New parts which only have 9 miles on them

New TRT Prop
Speedo Healer
SKC made the ZX9 loom and lighting loom
Fibreglass dash
Savage switches and other switches
Push button start and new ignition key kit
Electric reverse kit
SKC alloy shifter and gear cable kit
Air filter back plate
Clutch cable/Throttle cable/Choke cable fitting
Steering rack gaitor
OSF Track road end
ZX9 Engine spec
Baffled sump with modified oil pick up
Modified short sump
E model engine (stronger gear box)
Cylinder head just skimmed, new Kawasaki gasket etc (Scottish Kit Car Centre did this)
Carbs are jetted and balanced
Bike to prop adaptor
Gear linkage adaptor
Stainless manifold with a carbon fibre silencer

Car spec
Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2s
Toyo R888s
AVO Coilovers with dampning adjustment
New poly bushes in the suspension (comes with a box of spares)
Full roll cage, good bit thicker than the usual ones
TRS harnessess

Spares
Spare engines
Spare head
Other westfield parts

PRICE - £5K this is a £8500 car all day long, the spares are there for someone to fix it, 1 days work and you could sell it and make some money. I am just done with it!

whattt?!

But you haven't even got to use it yet!

If you have the parts, I would strongly recommend fixing it, if not you'll regret it
It's not even a days work to swap the engine! takes me around 5 hours by myself to do one.

What caused the hole?!

Sorry lads I'm just done with it.

I don't have it in me to work on it anymore, sounds a bit dramatic but immhonestly done.

I'm taking a loss and selling it very cheap.

Sorry to hear this as I know its been a battle

Sleep on it, Seriously, Leave it where it is for a bit and then look at it again

We've all 'hit the wall' when working on these things and sometimes you just have to leave it and walk away for a bit

You've come a long way with it, Don't let it beat you now

Car is now sold.

Got more than I was asking as had alot of spares to go with it.

Not recouped all my money but a good chunk of it.

Gutted but it's been a terrible experience in every sense. The amount I spent at SKC and on parts was silly but it's done now.

I won't be owning another kit car, this has massively put me off.

Think I am going to get another Cossy and stick with cars.

TBH honest, and it wont help but i think dealing with SKC is the nail in the coffin. All ive heard is bad news about them unfortunately.

I 'heard' about a person who took a vehicle to them, they didn't fix it properly and charged him, when he stuck to his rights as a consumer......he got a call from a local policeman suggesting he withdrew his complaint!!!

Seems a real shame that it's gone so sour for the OP to the point he'll never have a kit car again.
I don't know the full story but I'm sure there are lots of us who've had nightmare cars (whether kit cars or not).

Best of luck for whatever you get next.
