Fury VIN Number

When completing my IVA application and then double checking in the IVA manual my VIN number which was supplied and fitted to my chassis by Fury Sportscars when I collected it has the letter I stamped into it which is a character which is not allowed.

When I completed the online form it wouldn't allow me to fill in as it had this character but I called them and they said just complete with 17 zeros and then email us the VIN number.

I have now heard back from VOSA that the character is not allowed and needs to be changed.

Does anyone else out there with a Fury have the letter 'I' in their VIN number. Steve at Fury has used the characters IRS so mine is FSC******IRS*****

How do I stand if this was done by the manufacturer who I would assume has done this before as it denotes an IRS chassis.

Not really as it has been stamped and looks like an I. The VIN already has a 1 in it too so there is no real way of disguising it.

VOSA has said they can change it to a 1 but the plate is stamped and welded to the chassis and then also powder coated, plus I have had manufacturers plates made too.

Annoyed that this was made and placed at manufacture so would have expected it to be correct.

From what's been said on here, and experience of my m8 with a MK you are better off applying to DVLA for a chassis number whilst still at chassis build stage.
You then have an approved chassis number you don't need to worry about.
My m8 had to remove the MK supplied number and reweld a plate on with a DVLA supplied number.
He matched up the powder coat by using the RAL number to get some custom paint mixed, looks good and you would never know he's has to do it.

Had some problems me and other Italians importing Fury with the "1" on V05 and "I" stamped on chassis. The chassis VIN was retained and the VIN from V05 changed. But it was not easy.

My chassis number was also supplied as ...IRS... and the chassis plate (i made+welded) has that. I filled in the SVA forms as that and it wasn't mentioned/noticed until the test when the tester changed the paperwork to a 1and he said "take a punch to that and make it look like a one".

The reg forms had also gone in with an I and V5 later came back as a 1. I never got around to changing the chassis plate as far as i remember (and this was when DVLA used to insist on inspecting it themselves after SVA/IVA)

Just looked and the chassis plate is still an I

My home made VIN was stamped by me, not pretty.
My solution to you is to over stamp the I for a 1 and submit paperwork for the new VIN
Worse case scenario is that it fails IVA and you have to cut it off and weld a correct one on
There are no other solutions

Thanks Howard, I have received an email back from Steve and he has had the same problem too so is obviously aware. VOSA have said they can change this to a 1 so it looks like a dremel job is in order.

Trouble is I am going to have to get the manufacturer plates remade now too.

Hi Mike, I was going to contact you back. The plates have arrived and look great but as you can see will now probably need to be changed but I need to check with VOSA that they are happy to change the I to a 1. They have suggested that they can do that but I will get it confirmed before going ahead again.

Having heard back from Steve at Fury he is aware of it and as it seems, so are most IRS Fury owners?????
