IVA Application Questions

Finally got around to doing this after 7 years!!

..but have a few questions please (apologies if they are obvious):

When they ask for signature on the Application itself and on the Amateur Built Declaration can you just enter your initials and name when applying online or do you need to print out, sign and scan?

What is required for evidence of eligibility? I cant find guidance on this anywhere.

Hi Chris,

Just had mine approved and this is what I did.

I completed all mine in the PDF online and then printed them out, signed them, signed receipts for the kit, major components or donor V5 and signed them to say they were certified of copies of originals. Scanned everything and uploaded with the application and attached all to the application and included lots of pictures of the build (70 odd). Also completed the amateur build form and attached that too.

I know it seems long winded but had no problems this way.

Hope that helps

The weights arent explained very well.

I'm guessing Train and Towable Mass can be ignored as there wont be any towing going on and Gross weight is overall (empty) weight of vehicle but are axle 1 and 2 the gross weight divided by it's front/rear distribution?

I only ask because the help notes say 'The axle weight is the maximum weight an axle can carry'. Thats not the same as the gross rate divi'ed up between the axles.

I hope they arent too old school with receipts as my engine 'receipts' are a screen shot of the eBay listing with me showing as the winner and my PayPal receipt.

Correct, axle weights are maximum permissible weight in the car.
I think i just made mine up, something in the region of 450kgs per axle

Cheers.

Does anyone know if you need proof of engine age for IVA Application or is that just something you need to take along to the centre on the day of the IVA?

No didn't need it for the application, but they will test your emissions based on engine age so take proof with you

Whatever you send for the IVA, keep a copy for when you come to register it with DVLA.
I'm having a nightmare at the moment. Had it sent back to me twice already, and all they needed was pretty much what I sent in the first place. I wrongly presumed that VOSA and DVLA were somehow connected. Leason learnt
