Gearbox nose removal?

Im after using a HYDRAULIC CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING in place of the fork and cable arrangement.

Retroford and rwd motorsport do kits but both say the gearbox nose must be removed..

Is the nose there to support the gearbox input shaft or just provide a tube for the release bearing to slide on? Or is the spigot bearing enough?

The kits come with a piece to replace the front nose cover and seal it up but im wondering whether theres a detrimental affect to removing the original nose?

The base of the nose retains the input shaft bearing, the base piece of the kit supplied should do the same thing.
The tube just guides the release bearing and is only needed for a fork release setup.
It will need tweaking for your particular setup with spacers between the base and csc unit depending upon clutch used, bellhousing used and input shaft version (either standard-short, caterham/transit-medium, v6-long)

Just take the nose of and cut it off using a hacksaw very easy. Put a new cork gasket in while its off.
