gearbox speed sensor

I have a speed sensor (three wires y/b, b, b/blk )from a focus with an adaptor to fit in my t9 gearbox, does anybody know which wire is which.
Thanks for any help.

Black/brown+12v
Brown - Earth.
Yellow/brown - signal to ecu or gauge.

It could be 5v fed from the ECU, not 12v.

Fair comment but in the ford it runs at 12v. With an aftermarket dash ive run them at 12v.

If it's an aftermarket ecu then see what says. But the balanced 5v is usually for more sensitive sensors like tps.
