too rich off idle bike carbs

using zzr1100 on my 1.8 zetec 1.7 mains idle screws 2 turns out and on light throttle with no load running too rich at 6-7 on co would a shallow bike carb angle make it run rich or lean?? seam to get a lot of smoke off idle or is it lack of load on engine ?

WOT it's running a decent AFR?

Light throttle fueling is done by altering the needles, either height or size/shape.

1.7 is a bit big for a 1.8 engine mine were only 1.45 on a 2ltr

Each needle/ jet covers a certain area of fuelling

So if your issue is at light load/idle then I would be looking at winding in your idle jets and seeing if it drops.

Main jet size needs to be whatever suits your engine and many factors can adjust that. On my duratec, without my cold air feed backplate I need 1.75mm jets, when I put the backplate on I need 2.1mm jets!
