The project car I have started has a ST170 engine. I intend to get it running using the standard ECU/PATS and have those parts.
I don't have the exhaust or lambda sensors. My question is do I need the cat and lambda sensor to pass the IVA? I don't have donor
information so it will be a Q plate registration.
I have seen some forums where people decat their cars and bypass the lambdas, so I don't believe there is a big issue with running the engine
that way, although it may prevent the ECU from self tuning?
Thanks big_wasa
I haven't sorted through the box of bits/the engine itself yet - think I have the bulk of the sensors, but no exhaust/manifold so obviously no
lambdas or cat.
Thanks for your previous work documenting what all the pins on the ECU do. It is that that has inspired me to take this route!
It'll probably be a couple of months before I get to the point of actually wiring everything up, just trying to get a list of what to buy at the
moment.

Hugh
Thanks for that, I am sure there will be some bits I'm missing (but I have a standard zetec so may be able to salvage a few bits from that).

. I've yet to start the st220 on oem ecu then that's it for the foreseeable.

Was hoping you were going to have a go at getting the 1.6 ecoboost going on oem stuff, that would be really interesting for quite a few people I
think. Looks like the next favourite kit car engine but currently ECU's to run the GDI are expensive.
