Mine passed three previous MOT's without one, it was last tested in Oct 17.
I hope the rules have not changed.

Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

A "Q" plated car shouldn't need one regardless of year of reg.
Unless they're changing the "Q" plate rules too!

From the May 2018 amended MOT manual:
6. Vehicle ‘first used’ Dates - Application of Test Criteria
b. Vehicles having a Q plate registration when presented for MOT are to be treated as follows:
• for emission purposes only, they are to be considered as first used before 1 August 1975
• for all other testing purposes they are to be considered as being first used on 1 January 1971
Glad I went for a Q plate in 2013

Q plate or not, I suspect that regarding the MOT, if it's fitted then it must work.
