Brilliant car buy or money pit?

Bought a new daily driver
Mercedes-Benz SL500
2002 5litre V8
What could possibly go wrong!!!

My Dad had an SL500 for a couple of years. Didn't get to drive it myself, but it was certainly a nice car to be in.

I suspect the fuel bills will get tiresome and if it goes wrong the repair bills will probably be hefty as well. My Dad found a local independent garage specialising in Mercs, their labour charges were certainly more reasonable than Merc main dealers.

I don't know your area, but I'd suggest looking around for a suitable independent garage to help you out as/when needed.
