Acewell speedo

Hi all

Has anyone any experience using the Acewell CA85 speedo?

I see lots of comments and success with others in the Acewell range, but can't find any feedback on this model. From their website it looks to be more of a motorbike clock, would this be a problem for IVA or using a CEC? I'm particularly keen on the look of this one!

Thanks

As far as I know, Acewells were primarily designed to be Bike Clocks.
They have been used successfully due to their versatility.
If the functions on the CA 85 model are enough for your purpose, I can´t see it failing IVA.

See thread on minimum instruments... https://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/forum/5/viewthread.php?tid=164803

It had just come out about the time I passed the parts business onto my daughter & her partner - I expected the CA85 to be popular as seemed ideal for a car installation, but it never seems to have caught on, the 7659 & 7859 have taken over most of the market there

In terms of will it do the job for IVA, yes, perfectly & Acewell's after sales/service is second to none

When specifying it you need to know exactly what you want as I seem to remember there were a lot of variables (possibly something that put people off - not knowing what all the differences were). Oli, who now runs Furore Products no longer stocks it due to lack of popularity & all the different variables to stock, but he should be able to order one in for you & get you 5% off the standard Acewell price - drop him an email info@furoreproducts.co.uk

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

i looked at this when building my car but it was too big to fit in my dashboard so i went with a similar one from koso which is smaller: https://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/gauges-c4/motorcycle-gauges-c27/multifunction-gauges-c29/koso-crd64-multifunction-gauge-includes-a-magnetic-spe ed-sensor-p13 they also do a bigger one, the CRB or CRW.
it also suited me to use the koso one as it has a fuel gauge built in which can be programmed to match the resistance of any sender. seems like a neat solution to me as the only other gauge i need is temperature.
seems to work perfectly but car not IVA'd yet.

here's a picture what the koso one is like in the car

For the smaller ones there are plenty of alternatives from Acewell (2859. MD 052/53), but if it's that larger diameter you want then I don't think there's much else on the UK market
