diff rebuild - where?

got a couple of sierra diffs sat in my garage, both of unknown condition but a mate is about to embark on a kit build so want to get one overhauled for him but it's been years since i've had a diff rebuilt and the guy i used to use has hung his spanners up now.

anyone point me in the right direction? closer to leicester the better really.

Another vote for road and race, but they might be too far away.

I don't know the cost of a diff rebuild, but how does the does it compare with getting a diff that doesn't need a rebuild?

What about doing it yourself? It's not too hard, just take your time.

Problem is knowing 100% that it doesn't need a rebuild. Most Sierra diffs out there are very long in the tooth now.

250 ish quid for a rebuild from Dave Rae. All new bearings, seals, blast cleaned and repainted. No brainer really

if i had means of setting the preload and backlash on it i would as they aren't rocket science but seeing as it's a 1 off job it's not worth investing in the kit to do it myself.

the chap is just getting set up to build a GBS Zero, GBS want £564 for a recon unit which has had bearings, seals and a coat of paint

Dave Rae will do the same to one of the units i've got including painting it and there's just shy of £300 difference to buying from GBS. I think Dave wins this one!
