Mk2 Escorts had a type 2 gearbox. Some early base model Sierras also had it .

At least 5 different basic types of manual gearbox were used in the Sierra -- that dosen't count 4x4 and V6 variartions

However most are either type 9 or MT75.

The Mk1/2 Escort used 4 different types but most ordinary Mk2 escort use the type 2 --- don't even consider using a Mk1 1100 or 1300 Escort box it won't stand any hammer externally it looks identical to a Mk2 Type 2 but is much weaker.

With the right clutch, *any* RWD ford gearbox will bolt straight up to a crossflow.

To mate a type 9 to xflo the trick is to use the 7.5"/190mm 23 spline clutch for Sierra 4speed and early 5 speed
