Yamaha 5vy Throttle Issue.

The throttle on myR1 5vy seems to be sticking. When I press the accelerator pedal the engine responds and as expected the rev’s increase .When I release the throttle the pedal springs back but the engine revs remain high before dropping as if something is sticking.
The cable is relatively new and checked both the pedal and the throttle linkage both of which spring back as soon as your release the throttle. Could this mean I’ve got a faulty throttle position sensor.

Hi
Do you have a throttle return spring fitted? Essential for bike carb set ups.

I can't access the pic in my photo archive for some reason. But I think it's in the thread above.....

Why do they call Port Harcourt "The Garden City"?...... Becauase they can't spell Stramash.

I had the same issue with my 5vy initially. Others have had to do the same. On the bike there's a cable to open and another pulling it closed and in a single, cable car install it doesn't close as positively.

I fitted an extra return spring and that cured it.

Cheers
Will have a look when I get time.
The pedal and butterflies both seem to spring back when I manually release them but like you say only running the one cable so sounds like that could be the issue.

Have a look around the various stops, etc. There's a thermostatic lifter in the middle of the TB's, sometimes interferes.
Air leaks, bleed screws, fouling hoses and clips, etc., all good culprits.
There should be no issue with a single cable and the OE return springing, served me well on a 5VY Jedi, with a very long cable run.

Best engine note I've ever had, the 20V screams, enjoy.

Yeah, mine shut fine but when running suffered slight hang-up when running. Never worked out exactly why but an extra spring sorted it.
