Engine stripping problems

Spent today stripping down my old 1600 pinto and came across a couple of problems that I'm hoping someone might be able to help out with:

1) Found it very difficult to get the camshaft pulley off (had to resort to hammer and crowbar), should I invest in a puller?

2) Couldn't remove the crankshaft sprocket (behind the crank pulley) - very tight access - would a puller be able to get this off? In the end I had to remove the crank, crank sprocket and front oil seal cover all together.

3) Couldn't remove the ancilliary shaft - followed the instructions in the Haynes manual but it doesn't seem to want to come out. It will move a few millimetres forwards and backwards but doesn't want to come all the way out. Anyone know how to budge it?

Cheers

Pete
