zetec sump chop diagrams

Anyone got any zetec sump chop drawings/diagrams ?

I know i want to get bottom of the sump in line with the bellhouse but it would be easier for my welder if i had some pukka drawings.

I am planning to chop a 2 litre mondeo sump

sump

I just bought a zetec escort sump off e-bay, cost £15, gives much more ground clearence than normal mondeo one as it is flat bottomed.

Jesus, I'd take an oxygen tank with you if your thinking of doing any work on the sump top - i can see ice forming from here.......

Well i dont fancy raising the centre of grav 2.5 inches and have a ride height of 7+ inches so i'll chop it as dunnels at 165mm internal depth.

I must admit the luego way looks a bit scarey

My solution is to use an Escort sump,(25mm shorter) and raise the nosecone 25mm, (bonnet will be made to match), and to avoid speed bumps.

Bob, what's the Luego way?

If you are going to 'Cut & Shut' bolt the sump down to either a spare block or to something that wont allow the sump to distort with the heat.

Defintely - I made this mistake when shortening my zetec sump (blacktop Phase 3 engine, though) and the pressed steel pan got a little distorted. Had to bolt it back up to the alu section and then reheat it to get it back to normal.

I have only seen one luego velocity on the road,it had been fitted with a zetec but with a standard sump(i'm not sure if it was mondeo or escort sump) and it hung out of the bottom of the car by 2 to 2.5" giving little ground clearance. The owner to compensate for this had raised the ride height but it did look a little wierd.

Why don't you use a CVH steel sump, then you can weld it easily, ie big winged and lower the engine at the same tiime!!
oh you also have to cut and weld the pickup to suit
