handbrake cable bracket

after searching for ages for a suitable handbrake cable bracket - the sierra one is too wide, and i dont like the look of a bar, as it will probpll unevenly, my uncle suggested one of these - they have a max. strength of 650kg, which i would imagine is near impossible to reach, even with serious leverage!
just thought id share it.

will fix the cable with those 'u' fastener crimp things.

HI,

I used a similar pulley on mine.
Removed the quadrant from the sierra cable, removed the rivets from the pulley and replaced them with bolts/Nylocs.
Used a short flat bar with a 1/4 twist to connect to the h/brake lever.

Works perfectly.

Tom,

I remember reading somewhere that the SVA man likes to see cables terminated in the correct way ie with the correct nipple swaged onto them and is not in favour of the U type cable clamps - both you and i know it will do the job but im almost 100% certain it was frowned upon.

MK9R's www rings a bell on this subject IIRC.

Hope i aint pi55ed on your picnic

i cant think of another way of fixing the cable after shortening - surely the u clamp things are stronger than any cast peice on the end of the cable. is there another way of fixing?
cheers - its nice to have someone point it out before i fail sva for it.
cheers,
Tom

Cable clips.

He didn't mind me using one at the Derby SVA station. I have seen a drilled bolt and a washer either side of the cable then a nut tightened down to clamp it all together, like pushbike brakes use or drum nipples with a grub screw as well.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
