Help with dials/dash

Can i use any dash or dials from any car? Will they have to be recalibrated, if so how much does it cost? thanks very much

Thats like saying can i run to work and if so how long will it take me. I dont know where you work or how fat you are etc.

However......

There is no such thing as 'standard' bits for speedos and dials.

Some are mechanical, some are electronic.

Generally, tachos are electronic.

Speedos are mechanical and electronic. After market electric ones are adjustable, the ones fitted as std are not. Mechanical ones can be tweaked at specialists.

Water temp and voltmeters (duh) are electronic.

Oil guages are eother pressure or electronic.

Specific guages need specific sensors - you cant mix and match.

Your cheapest route is to use the dash components from the donor. Wont look as good, but you could set the bits from a sierra behind a hole in the dah with a suitable bezel - this is what robin hood do on the 2b.

Buying nice instruments will cost 250 - 400 quid. However, as you are gonna be staring at the dash a lot, it should look the part. I spent 323 on mine, plus 60 quid for a walnut panel. But then my builds been 0ver 3000 quid so far.

PS

As well as looking in old triumphs, some OLD skodas / ladas have round instruments - you might want to take a look at a scrappy.
