'Engine' Screensaver
I've had this on my PC for a while now and just realised you guys might like it;
Animated Engine Screensaver
The screensaver shows an engine being slowly assembled and then shows it running. All very cleverly done, looks like the Ford Duratec but hey! what do
I know

Is it the Deutz engine one?
Fantastic isn't it? Be warned if downloading- it's about 50-60Mb!
I *think* it's a Duratec too.
There's possibly a couple of different versions. The first time I saw it the resolution was perfect and the bolts could clearly be seen to be
winding into place- it's less obvious on my version and the quality is worse. Oh well, still cool though!
Pity about the sound track!
Cheers,
James

Thats an awesome screensaver. many thanks.
Seeing the screws turning and some of the parts doing a twirl before going into position is pure magic. The 4 stroke bit is great too.

Yep, it's a Duratec, it looks like the 2 litre version.
Could this be the format of the Haynes manual of the future?

Amazing engine really and ford have gone back to timing chains! Is it based on a Mazda engine? I seem to remember someone saying it was.
Just been talking to a guy in my halls who is doing Auto engineering. He said that they paid ford a lot of money for a copy of that and ford
didn't want it released onto the www!

Glad you guys like it.
It is the 'Deutz engine' and yes the soundtrack is errrrr unusual
I think this engine is a Mazda/Ford joint venture - Mazda are using a derivative in the new MX5.
