Amazing. Can any one explain what kitcars problem with the other mag really is, or where it comes from. Seems it could be a very interesting story.

The main reason I buy Kitcar is for the amazing bitch fight between the two. I have been following this story for some time and it just gets better
and better, all entertaining stuff.

Have to agree with Dave , used to buy both at times but now don't bother. Wonder how many sales they have lost because of the snipping?

If any of you have done business with Mr.Filby of Which *it magazine, then you will know what the problem is about.
I had the unfortunate experience of deailing with him some 18 years ago, and a stand at the Sandown Show.
He gave my prime pre paid front door spot to an advertiser who turned up on the spur of the moment, and for a laugh on his part, put my stand directly
opposite the door to the 'Ladies'. He thought it was funny. Sicko.
BUT!!! Turned out to be a blessing. While the girlies were in there doing whatever it is they do, the hubbies/boyfiends hanging about had my stand to
look at! I got 18months work and a couple of long term contracts.
So, all of you show exhibitors, think about location!!
The rest is due to the fact that a few of the companies advertising in Which *it are owned by Filby. Some others he has a vested interest in. His
spindly fingers and weasel nose reach far in the industry.
Also, to get a good write up, a constructor is recommended to donate a FULL, all inclusive kit to Mr. Filby's magazine for a 'build up
write up'. Filby then goes on to sell it and get the profit. 100%!!
Still, it's cheap advertising when all is said and done. Even if the worst pieces of supposed engineering are written up as
'fantastic'.
Mr. Filby is a person to be avoided, if at all possible, at all cost.
Within two days of his shows closing, the company running the particular show is dissolved. If you try any legal method to get recompense or fair
treatment, there is no company to take action against! He takes your money and runs. Well, actually walks away laughing and sneering.
Honesty and integrity. Names from a tv show aren't they? Scruples, money from some far eastern country. Or so Filby would have you think.

Well if we ALL stop buying his magazine then it will hit him where it hurts. Let's just hope that everyone on all forums does the same.

No matter what the history between the two editors, altering a paying customer's advert is unprofessional and in my opinion inexcusable.
He's shot himself in the foot by doing it because he's ended up losing himself customers.

Jusy bought the latest non Filby mag and was amazed to see a review of Filbys Cobra replica by an "independant" BMW Mag Journo. They still
couldnt resist having a dig. I for one am sick and tired of thje constant sniping and if anything have more sympathy with Filby just becuase Den has
taken this to such an a ludicrous level. I wont be buying either magazine any more, i buy magazines to be informed not to be bombarded by by childish
garbage that, in my opinion, wastes valuable page space that could be dedicated to build or tech articles. And if Filby really is as dodgy as Den
reckons surely he will get his come uppance eventually anyway. Den needs to grow up!

what a strange way to behave why don't Peter Filby and Den Tanner just arrange a quick bare knuckle straightener and be done with it By the
sounds of it they could make a sack load of cash by selling tickets Stoneleigh would make a good venue...
As for Den Tanner's responses to that guys emails I can't quite believe what I've read

Think the story started out when Tenner owned a kit car company (Pilgrim?). A wheel fell off a customers car for some reason and Filby wrote a lot of
nasty words about how unsafe and badly designed the car was. Tanner sued for libel and won, but Filby kept on saying the car was dangerous despite
the courts verdict.
It's continued escalating over the years, and Tanner bought KitCar - possibly even to carry on the grudge - I have no idea.
Since then Filby has bought into a number of kitcar companies and Which Kit gives them all glowing reviews and lots of ad space without letting on
he's a part owner/investor (the BMW Cobra, the Razer(?) 7 alike and the BugRat buggy thing) journalistically unethical at the least IMO.
So bottom line seems to be Filby is a touch dodgy, and Tanner can't let go of a grudge.
I'd also heard they kicked off at one of the shows. Mad.

I always bought both mags every month until I got sick of the pair of them about a year ago.
Stopped buying either, and now get PPC in preference. Might give Total Kit Car a go if I see a copy somewhere.
We really do not need this kind of thing going on in a relatively small industry that has struggled long and hard to raise its professional standards.
IMHO of course.

Well I for one would pay to watch them slug it out!!
I have a pathalogical hatred of ar$eh0les who conduct their business affairs in an underhand manner.
Unfortunately however the old saying that $h1t floats to the top seems to apply more and more. Especially in the UK.
As for Kit Car and the way they act in shuch a childish, pathetic way beggars belief.
I am amazed that any journalist with a modicom of professional pride would want to associate themselves with such a bunch of amateurs.
Hopefully this latest episode and the publicity it is getting on the various forums will act as a last ditch wake up call to both of these magazines
to get their act together. However I wouldn't suggest anyone holds their breath!!!
What is needed is for some of the major advertisers, as well as all of us, to boycott the magazines until they cater to the kit car fraternity they
claim to represent, rather than pursue their petty personal squabbles.
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want!!!

If we organised a pay-per-view slug match then maybe we could raise enough funds to start our own impartial mag!
Then again, the amout of times that this forum has had a dig at Catering vans for their snobbery and Robinhoods for being crap kits, would we be any
better?????

I agree with all written above. (Including the head-to head tanner vs filby slugfest)
Please keep me posted when the event is set up!!
Seriously though, It is a real shame that for an industry and culture that Kitcars are to us and lots of potential buyers, it is a real shame that we
have to put up with two magazines that show total disregard for the people buying them.
I agree boycott them and hope we get some action.
Do we need a magazine anyway? this forum and others like it give me enough to go on.

I am sending my copy of the Tanner magazine back to them in protest. I know it won't make the slightest bit of difference, but he might
just wake up and smell the coffee.
One thing's for sure - I don't need to pay 4 quid to read the ramblings of this man.

Joking aside, if they really do hate each other that much, put them in a ring at Stoneleigh. Get ABA officials, a doctor, a big crowd (guranteed) and
donate all the proceeds to the winners charity.
Then at least someone can benefit from their constant back biting. Both as bad as each other it seems.
The new trend seems to be, flick through the two rags in WH Smiths, then buy PPC.
