Torque values LSD driveshafts?

Can anyone tell me how much the bolts connecting the driveshaft to the LSD diff should be torqued? (so I'm talking about the blue bolts in the picture)

Thanks!
Marcel

From the manual:

Driveshaft-Diff and Driveshaft-Hub are:
38-43 NM or 28-32 LbFt

But it is an extremely good idea to re-check these bolts after driving the car a few miles...

is threadlock advisable?

edit: if you do threadlock them, its worth replacing them with proper hex head bolts, for ease of future removal.

There isn't room for conventional hex bolts, but quality socket heads will be fine. It's those damned spline-drive bolts that turn to cheese that are a bugger to remove.

Does anyone know the dimensions of these bolts, I agree, lose the Torx type and fit quality socket cap allen bolts.

M8 x 50 grade 12.9 Caphead bolts.

I install them without loctite in my autograss racing car and they never come loose.

I am VERY careful about it though.

I wash the threads in the CV cups with solvent and clean the bolts in solvent, then LIGHTLY oil the threads with gear oil.

I then put them all in and nip up, before tightening opposing bolts to their final torque, (with a torque wrench!) to 48nm.

I use 48nm which is a tad higher than the "book" figure, as I calculated this from scratch for that bolt size (using the Bosch automotive "bible" formulas) and after destructively tightening some top quality bolts................they break consisitently at 68 to 72 nm.

After torquing them all up I put a line of tippex across from the CV to the bolt head. That way you can see at a glance if they have loosened as the tippex will crack visibly.

Clean the threads and use locite.

When the MK1 Fiesta 1300 was first introduced I saw a few on which the drive shaft bolts had worked loose on. We reffited them with new bolts and a dab of loctite and a bit of extra torque no problems after that. After a few months Ford must have revised the tightening procedure on the production line because we never saw any after that.

Just emailed me bolt man and he doesnt do them in 12.9 grade

Ill have to find somewhere else - Dont suppose Ford do them at a reasonable price do they?

Was in today for some caliper bolts but all of them had been discontinued - bonus was, the screen gives grade and sizes so you can merrily get them eslewhere

Ask for Class 12.9 and you might get a result.
