Zetec - Carbs or fuel injection

I have a 1997 Silver top Phase II zetec. I know this will need a cat for the SVA but can i run it on carbs or does it have to be fuel injection.

If fuel injection, can the original set up from the mondeo be used with an aftermarket ECU, or does anyone have any recommendations.

Thanks

i deff would go Injection

Its more controlable and gives more BHP over the complete range!

Offcourse when you compare tou need to compare equal. Sow when you compare to 44mm Weber then you will need to compara to an injection system with Throtlebodies with 44mm as well..

with injection you get 'every jet' in seconds mounted....

in fact there cant exit an carbs thats good for every engine! and with injection you can make it totaly for your engine!

Albeit you will need to do it well because it still are electronics...

Tks

Hi,

you can run the standard setup with megasquirt, but if you decide to use carbs, you will need something to take care of the spark(megajolt or similar), as the zetec has no distributor.

if you do a search through the archives, you will discover that it is possible to use the original ECU from the mondeo if you're on a serious budget.

save you the job, ford ecu stuff attached. Never used the info, I found a cheap second hand GEMS ecu on the Westfield forum. ECU's come up quite regularly on ebay as well.

the www.zetec-cat.co.uk people also have loads of info.
