Wideband Lambda Sensor

Am looking at getting a wideband lambda sensor.

I want to use it to check ignition and fuelling so I dont melt my piston crowns on the way to the SVA centre!

Post xmas im not exactly feeling flush but have seen the link below.

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lc1.php

Anyone any experience? Im guessing you'd have to drive with mixed throttle openings and loads / speeds whilst looking at the gauge and/or log the data somehow - anyone any advice or experience of using one of these?

I have the innovate LM1 and it is a superb bit of kit.

Highly recommend the innovate wideband products.

How is the turbo kit for the CBR engine coming on?

My interpretation of the LC1 is that it is a contoller with loop back to your 3rd party ecu to control fuelling.

What I think you are looking for is a meter to tell you your fuelling ratio. The offerings on the link to LM-1 units look fairly good albeit without a dash mounted meter.

The unit I may purchase is here and slightly cheaper too.

Geoff,

I have an LC1 hooked up to a megasquirt.

I use the megasquirt data logging facility but I think that you get an application with the system, never used it though.

See http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=27908

I don't think that you should be worrying about AFR on your way to SVA though

Cheers,

Colin

You should always be worrying about your AFR with a turbo charged bike engine!

By the look of it, that just uses a Narrowband sensor...so only really useful for telling you "rich / ok / lean" not "lamba is 19.8"

Jim,

If you're interested in taking a look, I've still got one of Bill's LM-1s here

Hi,

Wow, thanks for the replies - good to know its a goodun.

Who's Bill Shurvington steve?!

If anyone's got any tips about setting up carbs for boost using one of these sensors your pearls of wisdom are very much welcome - otherwise a long process of trial and error will no doubt reveal the way to do it!

Cheers
