anyone know if everyone,now a mere employee, or just self employed has to fill in the self harrasment form by end of jan?

which tax year are you referring to, would it be apr04-apr05? if you have been self employed at all in the relevant period, you must fill in the forms. If not, just ring them to tell them you earned nothing etc, they might ask for a return anyway, but at least you cant go wrong! My mate is a full year late with his 03/04 return...

Yes Joel is correct! You must contact them (year 2004-2005), or send in your signed/dated form and enclose a covering letter to state there was no earnings/employment. Do Not Ignore!

if your PAYE, and you go into the 40% tax bracket, you have to fill one in aswell.

I think it's optional if you are PAYE high tax band. I think it's supposed to be mandatory if you are a company director but I've never been asked!
