New forest Camping weekender

Just an advanced heads up to anyone wanting to get away for the weekend for beer and general car chatting under the stars(have I sold it yet?)

I'm trying to organize a camping weekend on the 24/25th June at the Red shoot campsite in the New Forest. More details to follow but for a general outline next to the campsite is a brewery, not too far away is Beaulieu motor museum and the local roads apart from being a 40 limit(which we all strictly stick to) are cracking.

Anyone interested?

ATB Dan

I'll have a piece of that please.

If my brother sees this he might start getting emotional,it was the 1st place we went on a family hol if my memory serves me right.

Just be aware that SOME of the New Forrest camp sites are located on old WW11 airfields where the concrete was just ground up and getting the tent pegs into the ground can be a real behatch.

And not wishing to be a spoil-sport, but the 40 limit on those roads is for a good reason ... the ponies which roam free in the New Forest are extremely solid. Hit them in a light sevenesque car and you are going to come off very badly indeed.

Several are killed each year, and they write off whatever kills them. Personally I wouldnt want a 1/2 tonne pony in my face at even 40mph, let alone more.

End of public safety announcement
Cheers
Richard

It's a trek, but I'm interested. Did a week down there in the Locost last year. My sister lives nearby, so I can escape if it's too wet!

arrghhh the redshoot camp site,
wasn't it in the summer of 76
the smell of hops from the redshoot inn and the smell of burnt skin and all the family liked eachother... well nearly ,
metallic blue cortina ghia...the one that had to have its sills drilled and drained...those were the days

sounds quite interesting
also sounds like bob wants to split the tent fee

The only thing more annoying than the new forest ponies are the F**King tourists that stop in the middle of the road to pat them out of the car window( I know i've lived and worked around there for over 10 years) .

Hopefully the ground will be soft, not even the RAF(bless them) can build a runway in a valley.

Doesn't Bob snore, wouldn't want to split any fees for that.

If we have a problem booking this site i dont see it being a problem going elsewhere, the forest is one BIG camp site and there are a few nearer Beaulieu motoring museum if that rocks your boat.

The New Forest was the first place I ever slept in a tent We got attacked by the effing horses who stole our food

Ahh well. Are people who haven't yet finished building their seven allowed? If we come in a suitably cheap (£250) and lightweight (700kg) car?

Organic meat for sure - my body is a temple after all. Salad? oh yes, that too - preferably Caesar.

Kalibar - god no - I'm on the real stuff now - have been for about 6 months after a rather long absence
