Anyone know how these comare with an escort axle dimensions and stud spacings?

Didnt they use capri axles??? may be wrong

Certainly are (wrong, that is)! The Scimitar unit was unique to the car. As I happen to have both sitting in my workshop, I'll check tomorrow

Stud spacing is same as Truimph BTW. Not sure if this is same as ford but I'll check that too.

Scimitar has salisbury diff (as used by jaguar). These are good for large hp (see www.v8church.co.uk).
Axle features better location thanks to watts linkage and parallel trailing arms with damper/spring units whereas capri uses cart springs, panhard rod and damper struts.

istr it is a modified Salsbury unit not dis-similar to the MGB --- 4 on 4.5" PCD with big wheel studs 1/2" unf I think to match TR 6 front hubs.

Panhard rod on a Capri --- the 70s capri cowboys weren't that lucky --- just two extra upper links as per MK2 Lotus Cortina
