Zetec cam shafts
I've had a bit of a disaster tonight
You know the saying "The man who never made a mistake never made anything" Well.... I made a spectacular mistake.
I now need a pair of standard 2.0L Zetec cams...
To save you asking...
I decided that a possible reason I couldn't tune my MegaSquirt fuel table could be that the valve timing was out... Sure enough it was...
I fitted the setting gauge to the slots in the back of the cams... slackened the cam pulleys... set the crank to TDC with a dial gauge... then
tightened everthing up... I then decided to turn the engine over a few times to settle the timing belt... Being a lazy git I didn't turn it by
hand I spun it on the starter... Yep... I forgot to remove the setting gauge...
This had the spectacular effect of snapping the flanges off both cams...Bugger...
Anyone help?
Anyone upgraded to "hot" cams and still got their old ones?
Beer tokens await.
And yes I am suitably embarrassed

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Would suggest you change the timing belt as well, it may be weakened .

Oh yes...
donut's Andy though isn't he? bob's building a pile of zetec parts, I'm getting mixed up. Bob is the first bob in the member
list if you do a search for user.

This forum never ceases to amaze me!
Within 24 hrs of completely destroying my cams I was the very fortunate owner of a set of brand new 1.8L cams free of charge. (well the price of a
drink) I would like to publicly thank Keith (Schrodinger) for coming to my rescue.
The 1.8's will certainly help me out until I can lay my hands on a set of 2.0L ones.
There is a plus to this as well.... It gives me effectively a "practice" go at tuning my MegaSquirt.
First on the 1.8's Then on a set of 2.0's

Can I just say you are welcome as they have been laying in the back of my garage since I removed them and it has at least shifted them from my garage
